I WALK

Monday blues and a cup of morning tea
I stare at the skies from my house that overlooks the sea
The wind blows and the palm trees sway
Work is the last thing I want to do today.

So, feet in flip-flops and hair in a ponytail
I decide to give my rough life a bail
A walk by the beach-side in the company of the waves
It’s a moment of freedom to my inner slaves.

I walk on the sand and feel the wind blowing my hair
What I feel now, nothing can compare
Years of life that flew past slowly find their way
Into my memories that I somehow left to decay

I know I made enemies, I know I made friends
Together we surpassed many a life’s dead-ends
From the little crawling toddler, I know I’ve come a long way
And everything’s left an impression as on clay

Some rules I followed, some I made on my own
Every event whether good or bad has flown
And I look at myself and wonder what I’ve become
Will I be remembered in the times that will come?

A walk with your thoughts can mean so much more to you
It’s spiritual, a lot like kung-fu
It paves a way for your existence, a reason for your being
It’s a whole new journey that is definitely worth seeing.
