Her SHADOW

Her SHADOW

She skips across the waters,
Her anklets singing a chorus,
Her slim feet performing a magical dance,
I follow her ripples…
My horse leaps steadfast
Onto the bank of the river
I look for my love…

She hides behind the bushes,
Reveals her slim shadow on the tree,
I follow her..
I see her dark eyes
Sharp and shiny
Playing with my soul
Her hair left open following the wind,
Her tender hands call me to her..

“Oh princess of beauty, don’t play with my heart
You spark my hidden desires
I crave for you now..
Why do you run, where do you go?
Behold! Let me surrender to your beauty”

She giggles, she runs,
Her laughter pierces the silent calm air of the night
Fills me with childlike playfulness,
Light and soft, I hear her footsteps..

As the setting sun fills the sky with the colors of dusk,
She scampers into the horizon,
I chase her, I follow her
She turns, she laughs,
She beckons to me
As the night creeps in
Her shadow disappears
Leaving me to my loneliness
My horse stops and I see her
As she joins the sunset.

I WALK

Monday blues and a cup of morning tea
I stare at the skies from my house that overlooks the sea
The wind blows and the palm trees sway
Work is the last thing I want to do today.

So, feet in flip-flops and hair in a ponytail
I decide to give my rough life a bail
A walk by the beach-side in the company of the waves
It’s a moment of freedom to my inner slaves.

I walk on the sand and feel the wind blowing my hair
What I feel now, nothing can compare
Years of life that flew past slowly find their way
Into my memories that I somehow left to decay

I know I made enemies, I know I made friends
Together we surpassed many a life’s dead-ends
From the little crawling toddler, I know I’ve come a long way
And everything’s left an impression as on clay

Some rules I followed, some I made on my own
Every event whether good or bad has flown
And I look at myself and wonder what I’ve become
Will I be remembered in the times that will come?

A walk with your thoughts can mean so much more to you
It’s spiritual, a lot like kung-fu
It paves a way for your existence, a reason for your being
It’s a whole new journey that is definitely worth seeing.
